On the wiki Stephane stated that "there was a change of plans for the website due to technical constraints and people being busy with other things" Now what that means I'll let you decide for yourselves.

I have a hunch it has something to do with the GW2 forums and their recent accessibility from the emails sent out from pre-purchases. A lot of drama was being stirred up over people being sent links to things that weren't working, they've since been taken down). There were also issues with people seeing currencies different from the ones they should have been seeing, so it's possible extra coding was required for that. I like Stephane, he seems to be the only member of the community team who actually informs the GW1 community of anything.

Honestly, I don't think too many people are disappointed about a delay in the GW1 website: it's not like it has that much to do with the game, and with the recent Live Team news about them switching to GW2 all hopes for more GW1 content post the anniversary are gone.

So... at the end what is going to happen with the web page of GuildWars.com? We will be able to enjoy a new desing and more effective tools for the web or will remain in a dream?

I would like to have some official information, but they donĀ“t answer this questions on Twitter. So i will have to post it on the support forum and wait until it gets closed.

They Could keep us more informed ...

They have said a long time ago that those aren't possible/too much work for the reward with the technology GW runs on.

Isn't GW2 running on the same engine as GW?

From the wiki:

Guild Wars 2 uses a heavily modified Guild Wars game engine which includes support for true 3D environments, more detailed environments and models, better lighting and shadows, new animation and effects systems, plus new audio and cinematics engines and a more flexible combat and skill-casting system.
But really, all you have to do is play both games and it should be pretty obvious that they just feel very different from each other.

Was looking forward to this, but see still no signs of life for the new website.
